The Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) programme is a three year programme of study spread over six Semesters and comprising 25 courses and a Project. The courses carry a credit of four and the Project carries a credit of ten. One credit would normally involve sixteen hours of lectures or equivalent, per semester. To become eligible for the award of the degree students need to earn a total of one hundred and ten credits.
Students enrolled in the programme undergo the first year of their studies jointly with students enrolled for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme. They pursue various foundation courses in the areas of mathematics, statistics, economics, business history and the humanities.
The second year of the programme is designed to equip students with a basic understanding in such areas as accounting, costing, and auditing besides organisational behaviour, human resources management and the legal aspects of business.
In the final year of study, students are offered the option of specialising in Taxation and Banking & Insurance.
